No, your eyes are not playing tricks on you. That is definitely me in a Taekwondo uniform. And, no, it's not Halloween. ;) I am demonstrating a round kick, here, thank you very much. Yeah, let me just try to get my leg up that high at 38 years of age. I'd probably end up in the hospital. Oh, the joys of being young and flexible.
The word, athletic, wouldn't exactly be an adjective that others would use to describe me, however, gymnastics, tennis, and, yes, Taekwondo are very much a part of my past. I was a freshman in high school when my best friend and I started taking Taekwondo together. My "ki-yap" was the bomb, though I will not be demonstrating that.
I actually enjoyed the sport, and I especially loved winning trophies in tournaments! ;) I think I only lasted about a year, though, because it interfered too much with the demands of school. Making good grades was more important to me than breaking boards. My younger brother, however, persevered and ended up earning his black belt.
