The Heavens Declare the Glory of God

Pin It Now!

Dedicated to my fellow astronomy lovers . . .

I love astronomy, and I think these pictures are so neat!

How about a few fun facts about these planets...

Mercury--Even though it is the closest planet to the sun, without much of an atmosphere, it gets colder than a freezer at night. And night here lasts about 30 earth days!!

Venus--Hot!!!! This planet is the hottest planet in the whole solar system!

EARTH--"The heavens are the heavens of the Lord, but the earth He has given to the sons of men" Psalm 115:16 A perfect design by a perfect creator!!

Mars--Even if there is evidence that water has been found on Mars, it doesn't mean life exists there! It is way too cold--the average temp on Mars is 81 degrees BELOW zero.

Pluto--Poor Pluto, he's lost his status as a planet.

Wow, just look at how tiny we are now!!

Jupiter--She is such a sweet, protective mother. God made her very massive so that her gravitational pull would keep comets and asteroids from hitting the earth. She takes the hits for us!! Thank you Jupiter!

Saturn--Ever wondered just how many beautiful rings she wears? Thousands!! I would have guessed like 6 or something.

Uranus--I think everyone already knows this is the sleepy planet--always lying on his side.

Neptune--Astronomers really believe it actually rains diamonds on this planet. Neat!

In July, here in Arizona, I am sure it's not going to feel like the sun is 93 million miles away!
Billions and Billions of years ago is just flat out Bologna! The sun is actually getting brighter every year due to thermonuclear fusion, so billions of years ago the sun would have been too dim to provide enough warmth for life to exist.

"He counts the number of the stars; He gives names to all of them." Psalm 147:4

Arcturus is the third brightest star in the sky. The name stems from the ancient Greek, Arktouros, meaning Bear Guard. Another really cool thing is that this star is even mentioned, I believe, twice in the Bible. Both verses are found in Job, and chapter 9 verse 9 reads (King James version) "Which maketh Arcturus, Orion, and Pleiades, and the chambers of the south." (My version refers to it as Bear) But anyway I thought that was cool. The other verse is Job 38:32 if you want to look it up.

Oh, and we all know Sirius is really just The Prisoner From Azkaban.

Isn't Betelguese some weird 80's movie? Antares is the brightest star in the constellation, Scorpius. Amazing to think that there is bigger stuff out there!!

We are not as big as we think we are!

God's creation overwhelms me and leaves me speechless!

"For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities--his eternal power and divine nature--have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse." Romans 1:20

Thank you Tonja for sending these pictures to me!

Lincoln's First Birthday in Arizona

Pin It Now!

We held Lincoln's big 5th Birthday Bash at Chuck
E. Cheese! His cousins and Grandparents helped him celebrate his special day.

I am so proud of my big 5 year old!

Eating pizza was quite the messy event!

How cool, a photo with Chuck E. himself.

Happy Birthday to you!

Of course, ending the celebration with the opening of presents is always fun!
Thank you all for coming and making his day wonderful.

Lincoln misses his very own special birthday dinner at Pawpaw and Grandma's! Lincoln loved all the gift cards--he bought lots of Star Wars stuff!!

Lincoln thanks everyone for all the cool gifts that are keeping him very occupied!!

Girl's Play

Pin It Now!
My Sweet Little Sue...

Little girls are so much fun and this one is no exception! We have a ball doing all kinds of girl stuff. Even though Shiloh is a pro light saberer and can win any wrestling match, she does have a very delicate princessy side.

She loves to dress up for church. Here she is showing off one of her new outfits and new pink purse.

Bling Blings. She adores them!!!

Well, it looks as if she's been to Mardi Gras. I don't think so. Over my dead body!

Shiloh is feeding her baby Puffs. I love watching her play.

Grandma T. this one's for you-- she absolutely loves Ella and Lisa, both of her Cabbage Patch dolls that you gave her! It is so funny when she pulls out Lisa's "pappy" and makes crying sounds.

Jump?

Pin It Now! If you could jump into a gigantic bowl of anything, what would it be?

I thought about going on ahead and posting my answer, but I thought it would be more fun for you to guess. I have actually pondered quite a few things since the question first popped into my head, but there was one thing in particular that came to my mind first. Anyone know what that might be???

Keep it clean people!

Kindness

Pin It Now! There are three ways to ultimate success:

The first way is to be kind.

The second way is to be kind.

Post Holiday Blues

Pin It Now!
Well, our Christmas vacation hasn't been all we'd hoped, but things could be a lot worse so I am not going to complain too much.

Since Christmas night we have had sick children, and it isn't over yet.

It all started with Mullin after we hiked Wind Cave Trail. Fever, sore throat, and now a weak cough have been Mullin's constant Christmas vacation companions.

A couple of days after Mullin got sick, Shiloh followed suit, except her symptoms were entirely different. She threw up about 10 times in less than 24 hours. Anyone who has children in this age bracket can identify with the fact that this can be VERY messy!! Thankfully she didn't ever vomit on my mom's furniture. It did get on the carpet a little bit, though. When Shiloh would get the same look that Frodo would get when the ring was calling him, I knew to race to the sink or toilet. I had to change her sheets all night long, too. I am grateful that I had a few layers already on the bed!!
I have never seen our pour Sweet Sue so pitiful in all my life. My mom was a huge help--she was constantly doing all the nasty throw up laundry, so I was able to just take care of my girl. I don't think I have ever received so many cuddles from her. Except for the sick part, it was a sweet time of closeness.

Well, come Saturday we thought our family was on the mend, and we even drove out to our new home to see the progress being made. To our dismay, Shiloh started having major blowouts if you know what I mean. That lasted for a few days and she is still pretty puny even to this day. Poor thing looks like Tiny Tim.

Just as we were thinking the germs must have bypassed Lincoln, he came down with fever and a cough. Better that, though, then what Shiloh had!! Needless to say we didn't start school today as planned.

How's that for bringing in the new year??
