Toddler Shopping

Pin It Now!
This morning Shiloh came down the stairs announcing that she was goin' to Fry's. (For the southern folks that would be the same as Kroger)
The day will come too soon when I will be asking her to go to the store for me. Maybe by then she'll have a better sense of style!!! A body wrap and a veil sounds good to me!!

Leftover Heavy Cream

Pin It Now!
Want to know what to do with leftover Heavy Cream???
Use it instead of milk to make french toast!!
I have never known what to do with the leftover heavy cream sitting in my fridge--I usually end up throwing it away....Until the little light bulb thing appeared over my head.
Let me warn you though, it is rich and very yummy. I couldn't button my shorts this morning!
This would qualify as one of those "Works for me Wednesday" posts, but it isn't Wednesday, and I haven't uploaded the picture thing yet to really be able to label my tips with it. Another day...

"Why" Wednesday

Pin It Now! Why are people so inconsiderate?? More specifically, how can neighbors be so inconsiderate?

I am not perfect but I really do try to be a considerate neighbor.

We have had some pretty "ruff" nights since moving into our neighborhood. I won't spend a lot of time rehashing the whole deal since Mark already posted our dilemma on his blog some time ago. (We have had issues with dog barking.) The barking seemed to improve a little after I decided to talk to two of our neighbors about the problem, but obviously the slacking has begun again. The main problem is the fact that we are surrounded by folks who have built-in doggie doors in their houses, so their dogs come and go as they please. When you've got like 5 or 6 dogs barking right outside your window, there is no chance of going to sleep!!!! Or like today---I rarely ever lay down during the day, but after not having decent sleep for the past week, due to various reasons not just dogs, I have tried to sleep during Shiloh's nap for the past 2 days. No luck. Why? DOGS BARKING. It started at 1:30, and I believe I still hear it. It is 3:15 now.
I have tried to be kind and patient, but I have had it. My blood is boiling. I finally called the authorities this Monday, but an officer still hasn't been by to talk to me yet. They are supposed to give me a barking log to start filling out. If things don't get better, I have to be ready to go to court. Please, haven't I been inconvenienced enough? I wish I had a tape recorder to set outside or something, so the authorities could just hear it for themselves. I am a Christian, and I have been one for a long time, but right now my flesh wants so badly to open my window and spew curses!!!
How would the neighbors like it if I played Christian music really loud all the time or if I let Shiloh scream outside in the middle of the night? I bet they would call the cops right then and there to make me stop. Why do I have to jump through hoops to get their dogs to stop barking at all hours?
I guess I better stop. My keyboard has taken enough of a beating for today! Oh, and if anyone has any suggestions (besides a gun) I am all ears!

Desperate

Pin It Now! I like sweets, and the other day I got desperate. Looking in my fridge and in my pantry (didn't take long) I found a few items that I thought might work together. Here's what I found: Caramel Apple Dip, finely chopped walnuts, bag of coconut, and a few chocolate chips.
I melted the Caramel Apple dip, then stirred in the nuts and coconut, and finally, I topped it off with a handful of the chocolate chips. Ahhh, my tongue and tummy were pleasantly satisfied!! Oh, and it would make a great Breyer's Vanilla Bean ice-cream topping, too!

Also, I found a great alternative to eating M&M's while I read! ( I like to eat candy when I read--bad habit, since I read a lot!) Flat Earth Fruit Crisps are incredibly tasty!!! The Peach Mango and Berry are the best. I think I went through 3 bags while reading The Deathly Hallows.
I don't know if I would go as far as to say they are extremely healthy because I think they do contain hydrogenated oils. It's got to be better than chocolate, Milk Duds, Twizzlers, etc....
Anyway, give them a try-- I found them at Wal-Mart in the chip isle. The website has a coupon offer, too.

Weekends

Pin It Now! I don't even really get overly excited about the weekends. The kids do--no school. Mark does--no work and sleeping in. I still have to get up before Venus disappears and my list of chores that have been piling up over the week is waiting for me. I am glad for a teaching break, but gotta plan for next week's lessons. Fortunately this doesn't take too long b/c I plan most of the lessons over the summer. Saturday morning cartoons just aren't the same either. There is a new Carebear cartoon that is so cute, though. Sometimes on Saturdays I look around to find that the kids have vanished leaving me all by myself to watch tv. It is really sad when the kids are calling from downstairs, "Daddy, hurry! You're gonna miss That's So Raven!" Hannah Montana's not so bad either!! I used to watch Billy Ray on Doc. I think I am the only one who watched that show.

"Why" Wednesday

Pin It Now!

Why do cookie recipes say that one batch will yield like twice as many cookies as it really will? This frustrates me so!! It happened again the other day when I decided to make Chocolate Crinkle Cookies. Said it would yield 54, but I barely got 30. And really, I only ate about 2 cookies worth of dough.

I don't know about you, but I don't want to eat dime-sized cookies!!

Oh, and I will have to post this recipe when I get the chance, because these cookies are so yummy!

Homemade Cuteness

Pin It Now! This post is for you, Mom! You know Shiloh loves her MawMaw!!
Shiloh is beautifully modeling an outfit that I used to wear. It is very sentimental since it was made by my mom.
Shiloh loves to hear the phrase, "Do you want me to take some pictures of you?" It is so cute to watch her make her trip around the backyard and stop to pose beside each plant.
Oh my goodness, her expressions just make me melt! I love this girl!
She just can't refrain from doing a few big CHEESES!

Wishful Thinking

Pin It Now! Today, during Lincoln's Literature lesson, we read and discussed Sylvester and the Magic Pebble. This brought up the subject of wishes, so I asked the boys, "If you could make just one wish today, what would it be?"

To my question Lincoln replied without even thinking, "All the light sabers in the world!".

As a mom, I am thinking, "That is so silly.", but I guess it sounds really fun to a boy. Where in the world would I put all of them???

Mullin quickly answered, without even knowing what his brother had said, "A Super Battle Droid Star Wars character". Now I am thinking to myself, "That's it?" He definitely takes after his dad, not me!!! I guess my kids are in a Star Wars mode or something.

Wishing is always fun so I just can't resist answering the question, too!!
If I could wish for anything today, it would be to have a backyard extreme makeover. I so badly want a custom pool, a welcoming covered porch complete with designer outdoor furnishings, a place to have family cookouts, and some cool custom built kid toys as well.
I can dream.....

Skillet Girl

Pin It Now! Now, you would think that something this prissy and precious would go around the house singing "Jesus Loves Me" or "Mary Had a Little Lamb or one of the many other kid songs that children usually love to sing. No, no, not our Sweet Sue! Throughout the day without any given notice, she will just out of the blue start singing with all her heart, "Rebirthing now I want to live my life....." and she will try to sing all the rest of the words. It is sooo incredibly cute, but I do find it interesting that that is the song she always picks. She also gets excited about David Crowder, but she never breaks out in chorus with any of his songs.

When I am in the car with my kids, which isn't a whole lot or anything, I usually turn Air 1 on, and every time the Skillet song, "Rebirthing Now" comes on I turn it up b/c I like it. That is the only time I listen to it since I don't have their CD.

Well, while I am on the subject of Skillet, I guess I will share another story as well. Since I have no fame of my own I am one of those people that have to tell the kinds of stories like I am about to tell...
John Cooper, Skillet's lead singer, went to the Germantown, TN school where my mom used to be a secretary, and she would always talk about the talented Cooper boys. One time I went there to see some kind of talent show or something that John was in--I think he was in 8th grade. After that I begged my mom to get a picture from him, and she did. So, me a silly little middle school kid, carried around a John Cooper photo in my purse. If only I still had that picture!! I had no idea he would become famous!! Man, I could have sold it on ebay or something for a bunch of $! Ha, ha!! Just kidding. My high school friends and I even went to the same church as John for a while. (It wasn't my home church, but a friend's) We also went to see he and his band play a few times (before he got famous), but I have to admit, I was a fuddy duddy even in my younger days and the music was a little too hard for my taste. But I do love his current stuff that they play on the radio. And Shiloh seems to also!!! Maybe Mark can get her to do it on video sometime.
I have another claim to fame story, but that will be for another day...

"Why" Wednesdays

Pin It Now! A few other bloggers have these cute, catchy little Wednesday posts, so I just had to have my own! It couldn't be "Wordless Wednesdays" b/c my Wednesdays seem to be so full of WORDS!! It couldn't be "Works For Me Wednesday" b/c well, that just didn't work for me. Soooo, I figured since my brain is always so full of never ending, pointless questions that my Wednesdays would be full of "Whys". I just might throw some "What If Wednesdays" in there, too, every once in a while.

Okay, so here is my first "Why Wednesday"...

Why in the world do some people put magazines or any reading material for that matter in their bathrooms?

In my opinion this is not the place for those items. Unless I am in the shower or blow drying my hair or putting on makeup I do not want to linger in this particular part of the house. Ya know those In and Out burger joints? Well, that is how I want my bathroom to operate--In and out!!!

Also, I don't think I want to touch the magazines in someone's bathroom either. No way, gross. I really hope that the folks who do read in bathrooms read their own material and not the library's. Hmm, maybe I should start disinfecting all those library books we check out!

Queen of the Stairs

Pin It Now! The beautiful queen sits upon her royal throne accompanied by her faithful subjects.

Our queen has a little drooling problem as you can see. She doesn't mind a bit though, and she displays the most beautiful smile when she takes that pappy out!!

Curious George

Pin It Now!
Just when I thought that I had read every single Curious George book in print, I found some more at the Queen Creek Library. Wow! This little monkey has been all over the place. I am waiting to see if they ever come out with the titles, Curious George Gets a Leash or Curious George Goes to the Woodshed.
No, really I do love those books; They are classics!

How to Keep Your Man Comin' Home Even After 10 Years

Pin It Now! Well, I have been married now for over 10 years, so I guess that means I have earned the right to dish out advice.

I believe I have discovered at least 10 secrets to having a successful marriage.

So for those brave enough to take the plunge, or for those who have already taken the plunge, here are 10 time tested tips to keep your man comin' home even after 10 years.

1. Have at least 3 kids so your belly has time to get that attractive deflated balloon, cottage cheesy look.

2. Breastfeed for at least 4 years so you can wear the special order bras with inverted cups.

3. Go natural. Shower at the most every other day.

4. Go natural. Wear very little to no makeup.

5. Go natural. Wear greasy, unwashed hair in a clip.

6. Wear old, outdated, faded, stained clothes. Even better if they have fresh snot trails.

7. Go out on no more than 3 dates a year, and by all means never go away on vacation with just the two of you.

8. Plan a weekly menu of mouth watering, satisfying meals that regularly consist of mac & cheese, eggs and toast, grilled cheese, beans & cornbread, and baked potatoes with salad.

9. Always be tired and go to bed by 9pm. This is a real winner b/c fewer conversations means fewer arguments.

10. Last but not least spend your weekends cleaning, grocery shopping, washing clothes and getting ready for the next week.

There you have it. Carefully follow these guidelines and you can be on your way to having a fairytale marriage.

*Please feel free to make as many copies as you wish.

My Celebrity Look Alikes

Pin It Now!

Well, I don't see how most of these look like me, but that's what it said.

I have been told I look like a lot of different people before, but none of these.

As a teenager, quite a few people would tell me I looked like Alyssa Milano. Once or twice I heard, "You look like Tiffany." Anyone remember her? She was a singer during the Debbie Gibson days--I guess early 90's.

When I had bangs, some folks would comment that I resembled Roma Downy (I don't know how to spell her name and I am too lazy to look.)

Off and on I hear that I remind people of Cindy Crawford--yeah, if that were true, I wouldn't be a penny-pinching nameless nobody!

Look-a-like Meter

Pin It Now!

I am completely shocked by all of the outcomes!!! I know this site (myheritage.com)has a scientific way of scanning the faces, but Shiloh's baby pics look so much like Mark's.

I had such a hard time finding a frontal picture of Shiloh without a passy!!! I will have to do this again sometime and find better frontal pics. Maybe that would change the outcome a bit. I seem to always pose with a side view and frontals are supposed to give a more accurate reading.

Life as a House Wife

Pin It Now! This sums up how I feel most days!!

Thank goodness I am not nursing anymore though. I did that for 4 years of my life-whew!
I am liable to punch someone who asks what in the world I do all day long, especially when my estrogen and progesterone are low. Ha, ha!!

Storms in AZ

Pin It Now! Rainstorms in Arizona almost always produce the most amazing rainbows. I could just sit and gaze for minutes. This was a double rainbow--it is faint, but it is there. It was also really BIG, but my pictures didn't turn out very well.
I like how the storms pass here and don't feel the need to linger for days and days. The kids loved looking at the rainbow, too, and here they are posing for a picture. Why is it that I feel the need to take yet another photo of my kids. I have like 2 million!!!!! I wish that I had had a digital camera when Mullin was a baby.

Vacation Day

Pin It Now! Actually, I don't think there is such a thing as a vacation if your kids are with you. Anyway, I let the kids have Friday off, and we all went swimming at my sister's house.

Of course the kiddos had a great time, but couldn't understand why mommy and aunt didn't want to get everyone back out in the pool after lunch. They just have no clue how much work it is especially when there are 4 out of 7 who can't swim!! Lincoln is almost there, though!

Shiloh loves Care Bears and she knew exactly where to go to find her cousin Livi's Care Bears!
