You Might Be A Redneck

Pin It Now! You might be a redneck if your method of cleaning up your yard after being "rolled" is lighting a match to the toilet paper stuck in your tree.

Burnt grass.

Question #3

Pin It Now! Q: What is your favorite drink??
This question was inspired by the conversation I had with Tamra regarding the meaning of the term, "fun drink".

A: I love food, and I love drinks, too, especially when they are "fun"!
*My favorite HOT drinks are hot cocoa, especially the homemade kind topped with real whipped cream. My Christmas hot cocoa is even more fun when I add red or green sugar crystals on top of the whipped cream and a cute little candy cane. The kids just love it!
I also love the 2 different kinds of wassil I make during the fall and winter.
Vanilla Cremes and Caramel Apple Ciders from Starbuck's make fun treats as well. I do not like coffee.

*My favorite COLD drinks are anything FRUITY!!! Fruit Smoothies, Pina Coladas, Strawberry Daiquiris, any kind of punch, etc. For me alcohol would ruin my fruit drinks. I want to taste nothing but the pure sweetness of the FRUIT!!! As far as my everyday favorite drink, well, it would just be plain old semi sweet decaf Lusianne tea! Also, a real treat for me is buying "fun" bottled drinks from Wild Oats. I really like the Raspberry Green Tea Soda! Those Bare Naked fruit drinks are super yummy, too.
So, that is what I mean by Fun Drink!! I am sure I have more but can't think of any at this moment.

Spring Break

Pin It Now! My mom came in town for Spring Break, and we had so much fun! I love spending time with her, and of course, so do the kids. She hadn't held Shiloh since she was born, and now that same little baby is clapping, laughing, and trying to walk and talk. While my days seem slow going, the past 8 months have flown by way too fast. Today I am feeling a little blue because she left early this morning. I always hate that achey heart feeling I get when she leaves. Mark was so sweet to let me spend so much time with her. During her stay she was attacked by Leonardo and Donatello! Turtle Power!!!!
The boys had fun playing lots of games with Grandma. She also brought some cool dinosaurs and dinosaur books to read. They have fun playing bug tricks on each other!! I am sure the boys really enjoyed their trip to Toys R Us where Lincoln picked out Ninja Turtle stuff and Mullin Lord of the Rings stuff. Grandma picked out a Carebear for Shiloh--Hopeful Heart Bear. Very cute!
My mom was also in on the surprise birthday party Mark had been planning for me!! I am so glad she got to be a part of it. I was totally clueless. I had great fun! Thanks Babe! Thanks everyone who came!

Stupid Me!

Pin It Now! I had 2 posts saved as drafts, and I just now got around to posting them. I thought they would post as today's date, but they didn't, obviously. I think one is even in February's archives. Since my posts are so thrilling, I know everyone is just dying to read them!!

Three Little Oxen

Pin It Now!
Caring people often ask me, "How are you doing?" My frequent reply accompanied by a fake smile is, "Oh, just fine." Truth is,for the past year I have
been overwhelmed, exhausted, stressed and not able to keep up with life's never-ending tasks.
I am not only a neat freak but a clean freak as well. This does not help my current condition. But, I must say that over the past 6 years I have improved much in this area. I can actually go to bed with piles of unfolded, clean laundry in the chair and dirty dishes in the sink.
Last Sunday my former College Sunday School teacher gave me an encouraging word. She mentioned a verse that went something like, "Where there are no oxen, the stall is clean...", and said that it had helped her as a young mom. I have been quoting it over and over again all week long. I have got 3 little oxen of my own constantly messing up our little stall. I guess the alternative would be no oxen and a clean stall. No thank you! After finding this verse in Proverbs 14:4, I realized the verse may have had a bit of a different meaning, but nonetheless God has used it to personally encourage me in this area.
I fondly remember a poem with a watercolor painting of a mommy rocking her baby that would greet me in our entryway everyday.

Cleaning and scrubbing can wait 'till tomorrow,
For babies grow up we've learned to our sorrow,
So, quiet down cobwebs and dust go to sleep,
I'm rocking my baby and babies don't keep!

I often find myself silently saying this precious little poem that was given to my mom by a friend. I never could have imagined what an impact it would have on my life. And why in the world do I know it by heart???

Question #2

Pin It Now! Q: If you could visit any imaginary place, where would it be?

A: I would love to go to Green Gables and become Anne Shirley's "bosom friend".
Going to Dragonland seems like lots of fun! "I wish, I wish with all my heart to fly with dragons in a land apart."
Of course, the number 1 place I would love to visit would be Middle Earth!

Health Nut

Pin It Now! I claim to be a health nut, not a health freak. I never want to be labeled a hypocrite in this area so I will admit right off the bat that I have an insatiable sweet tooth! I absolutely LOVE chocolate, most desserts, anything with carbs, a good juicy fast food hamburger every once in a while(although I might have a harder time enjoying this treat after viewing Superkraut's cow photos), Papa John's pineapple pizza, M&Ms( it is nothing for me to eat a huge bag in one day), and well the list goes on and on. Now that I have a clear conscience, I can move forward with what I really wanted to write about.
Alot has changed since I was a little girl, and there is still lots of changing to do. My grocery shopping fantasy is to one day be able to do ALL of my grocery shopping at Wild Oats! (Ecxept when I need that bag of M&M's) I grew up on Hamburger Helper, canned veggies, Little Debbie's, Kool-Aid, antibiotics, and nuked food out the whazoo, but ever since I started seeing a Chiropractor at the age of 14, I have been hooked on anything and everything that has to do with a natural, alternative healthy lifestyle. What is really funny, though, is that I am married to someone who cares as much about this topic as I care about camping. Any reputable matchmaking company would have never put us together based upon our eating habits. Come to think of it, we are pretty much opposites about everything, but since it was The Matchmaker who put us together, I can confidently say we are just right for one another. I would HATE to be married to someone just like me!! (I am kinda hard to live with!)
For over a decade I have spent many hours researching herbology, aromatherapy, homeopathy, healthy eating, etc... and have been trying my best to put all of the knowledge I have acquired into practice. There is still SO much more I want to learn, and half the stuff I have already learned I have forgotten. While I am by no means an expert, I hope to use my blog as an outlet to share some of the things that I have learned. If you have any tips, please share. I'm on the edge of my seat when it comes to health!
My pictures wouldn't load, and I am tired of trying. So I will go ahead and post pictureless=(

Birthday Blues

Pin It Now!
Well, in less than a week I will be 30! I get a bad taste in my mouth just thinking about having to say it. I am glad to be alive and all, but it is just weird that I will never be in my twenties again. This decade of my life has come and gone, and on one hand I can't help but think, "What in the world have I accomplished?" On the other hand I think, "Well, for goodness sake, I have gotten married and birthed 3 kids!" I think I often suffer from TGIGOTOS syndrome. (The grass is greener on the other side) I am expecting a gray hair to appear any day now. I would say the same for wrinkles, too, but I already have those. Spent way too many hours in the Arizona sun. To all who are still in their 20's--- Enjoy it!
